A comparison of some familiar Bernstein-type inequalities for ultraspherical Legendre polynomials is presented in the paper. The classical Bernstein inequality for the Legendre polynomials is improved as a consequence of the asymptotic results for the ratio of gamma functions. A comparison of the refinements due to Durand, Lorch, Laforgia, Alzer and other authors is given.
