Simple collineation groups with perspectivities of finite translation planes (Q1887595)

It is generally conjectured that a finite affine translation plane of odd order cannot admit a simple group of collineations. The author confirms this conjecture under the extra assumption that the group contains a nontrivial perspectivity. He also determines the possible groups and actions for the even order case.
