The author uses the auxiliary principle technique to suggest and analyze an iterative method for solving quasi-variational inequalities. The results obtained in this paper give an affirmative answer to an open problem suggested by \textit{M. A. Noor} [``General algorithms for variational inequalities'', Math. Jap. 38, No.~1, 47--53 (1993; Zbl 0769.49008)].
