Analytical solutions to prevent apparent snap-back in the modeling of elastic-damaging processes (Q1891900)

A general formulation of anisotropic elastic-damaging processes for brittle solids is presented. The authors propose a strategy to remove the problem of the apparent snap-pack in strain softening, for the same loading path. A simple perturbation to the solution of a constrained ordinary differential inequality is used to avoid the internal contradiction of the solution. Finally, the proposed model is illustrated for an uniaxial tensile stress path.
