Motivated by some application related to electrical networks systems of quadratic equations are considered. For such problems a numerical method is proposed based on a fourth-order expansion of the Newton path at some approximation \(x_k\), which gives a convergence order of five. The method requires the calculation of first- and second-order directional derivatives of the quadratic functions involved. A modification for the case of a degenerate Jacobian at \(x_k\) is presented. A third-order method applicable for more general nonlinear systems is shortly mentioned.
