The solution of systems of nonlinear equations for steady-state voltages at the nodes of an electric network is a traditional problem of real-time operation control in power systems. These equations must be solved in real time whenever a change in the power system alters some coefficients of the system of nonlinear equations. The authors propose a numerical method which enables the operator to determine simultaneously both the steady-state voltages and the values of the control parameters that ensure minimum losses in the network.
