The irreducible components for the variety of complex nilpotent Lie algebras of dimension 8 are found. These components are the closure in the Zariski topology of the orbits of certain laws. The dimensions of these components are found. The case for dimension 7 was investigated by \textit{M. Goze} and \textit{J. M. Ancochea}-\textit{Bermudez} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 77, 131-140 (1992; Zbl 0749.17007)].
