Properties of nonunique shorted matrices are studied as compared to those of unique shorted matrices. Separability of subspaces of row and column spans of a matrix, quasiidempotent and idempotent matrices, and intersection generating generalized inverse are discussed. A description of the set of general solutions for a shorted matrix is given. Another definition of shorted matrices based on the minus partial order is derived. Column and row spans of shorted matrices were completely characterized. Those properties, given by \textit{W. N. Anderson jun.} and \textit{G. E. Trapp} [SIAM J. Appl. Math. 28, 60-71 (1975; Zbl 0295.47032)] for unique matrices, which are valid also for nonunique shorted matrices are dealt with.
