In the first part of the present paper, a fixed point algorithm to solve a nonlinear problem that arises in ferromagnetics is developed. This is mainly done by means of a sequence of linear problems. The analysis of the method is done by a domain decomposition technique, which allows to solve the problem only in bounded regions. Next, the authors develop a finite element method for the approximation of the continuous problem, and the convergence of the iterative method for the discrete problem is studied. Numerical experiments are presented in the final section.
