The author gives a presentation for the semigroup of all non-invertible total transformations of \(\{1,2,\dots,n\}\) in terms of the generating set consisting of all idempotents of rank \(n-1\). The presentation has only six families of nice and short relations, however, the proof is, naturally, rather technical.
