The authors introduce a metric on the set \(F(\mathbb{R})\) of fuzzy numbers in the sense of \textit{R. Goetschel} jun. and \textit{W. Voxman} [ibid. 18, 31-43 (1986; Zbl 0626.26014)] and prove that \(F(\mathbb{R})\) with this metric becomes a Polish space.
