The paper under review is devoted to the study of the Drinfeld center of a monoidal category. The Drinfeld center is a categorical version of the Hopf algebraic construction of the Drinfeld double The authors develop ``a purely categorical version of the structure theorem on Yetter-Drinfeld modules for quasi-triangular Hopf algebras'' (see also [\textit{Z. Liu} and \textit{S. Zhu}, J. Algebra 539, 339--365 (2019; Zbl 1479.16031)]). The obtained results generalize those results on finite groups and on quasi-triangular Hopf algebras.
