The Riccati equation method is used to establish stability criteria for systems of two first-order linear ordinary differential equations. (Other articles involving Riccati method includes but not limited to: [\textit{G. A. Grigorian}, Math. Pannonica 26, No. 1, 67--101 (2017; Zbl 1424.34060); Differ. Equ. 47, No. 9, 1237--1252 (2011; Zbl 1244.34051); translation from Differ. Uravn. 47, No. 9, 1225--1240 (2011); ``On some properties of solutions of the Riccati equation'', Izvestiya NAS of Armenia 42, No. 4, 11--26 (2007)].) Examples are presented in which the obtained result is compared with the results obtained by the Lyapunov and Bogdanov methods, by a method involving estimates of solutions in the Lozinskii logarithmic norms and by the freezing method.
