The authors use a mesoscopic approach to an \(N\)-component mixture to derive the governing equation for the diffusion flux. The resulting differential equation is of the form used in extended thermodynamics. The derivation is based on a continuum level and many-particle interactions are taken into account automatically. The resulting evolution equation for the diffusion fluxes generalizes Fick's law. The scope of the future work is also included in the paper.
