The authors investigate existence and uniqueness of local and global solutions to the Cauchy problem \[ u'(t)=(Qu)(t),\qquad u(t_0)=u_0,\tag{P} \] in a Banach space. Here, \(Q\) is a causal operator, which satisfies some appropriate assumptions. Existence of maximal solutions of (P) relative to a cone are addressed, too.
