On an approach to constructing quasistatic models of atmospheric movements (English)
0 references
The author exposes an approach for modeling atmospheric motions based on the use of the quasistatic models which makes it possible to describe a wide spectrum of the horizontal transport (\(10 \div 1000\) km) in the planetary atmospheric layers having various vertical coordinates. The basic peculiarity of the present approach is the method of calculating the horizontal component of the pressure gradient in the moving equations. The model equations are written in the form where the diagnostic equation is employed directly for the pressure gradient instead of the equation for the pressure. As a result, the use of solutions to diagnostic equations makes it possible to find algebraic equations for the closure procedure in the original system.
