An observer-based controller is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems. Sufficient conditions are given to guarantee the stability of the closed-loop system including the observer. In order to have the origin uniformly asymptotically stable, a connection between the observer gain and the gain of the controller is derived. Uniform asymptotic stability of the tracking controller is achieved by linearizing the tracking error. Two examples are given for illustration of the method.
