The author presents the first German translation of those parts of Tartaglia's ``Quesiti et inventioni diverse'' (1546) which treat the resolution of cubic equations. The translation is complemented by mathematical comments, an explanation of special termini, and a short description of the mathematics treated by Tartaglia. Further on the author sketches the historical facts relevant to the controversy between Tartaglia and Cardano. As well known, Tartaglia had rediscovered the rule for solving cubic equations in 1539 and told Cardano about it. Although Cardano swore not to divulge it, he included it 1545 in his ``Ars magna''. This breach of promise angered Tartaglia and caused the controversy. Finally, the author gives a translation of Tartaglia's own description of his childhood given in the sixth book of the ``Quesiti''. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEBy the translations the reader ought to be able to follow the argumentation of S. Gherardi, M. Cantor, and E. Bortolotti, who had thoroughly analysed the controversy between Cardano and Tartaglia. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEFinally, in regard to the topics discussed by the author, the book [Die ``Cartelli di matematica disfida''. Der Streit zwischen Nicolò Tartaglia und Ludovico Ferrari. Algorismus 35. München (2000; Zbl 0972.01015)] recently published by \textit{R. Acampora} should be mentioned.
