Alternating direction Galerkin method for a class of nonlinear hyperbolic equations (English)
0 references
An alternating direction Galerkin method is analyzed for the numerical solution of an initial boundary value problem for nonlinear wave equations. By exploiting the properties of the finite element interpolation spaces and using discrete energy estimates, the author proves the optimal \(L^2\) error estimate provided that some (restrictive) conditions upon the nonlinearities are satisfied.
