Stresses in a box-like shell weakened by a crack crossing its edge (English)
0 references
The box-like shell consists of two semi-infinite plates joined at right angle and is weakened by a crack crossing the edge perpendicular to it. Uniformly distributed bending load is applied to the crack faces. The problem is solved using the Fourier transform which gives a system of singular integral equations. By application of the Mellin transform, this system is transformed to a Riemann boundary value problem. The latter is solved by the technique of pole neutralization. As a result, an infinite algebraic system for determination of coefficients of expansion of unknown functions is obtained.
