The book under consideration is a review of the third edition which can be found in [Zbl 0231.34001]. In this new edition several new texts are added. In Chapter 1 ``The Nature of Differential Equation'' an Appendix A is included which concerns the normal distribution curve and its differential equations. Moreover, some important improper integrals are included in this Appendix. The new Section 65 ``More about the van der Pol equation'' is added. Some historical remarks about this famous equation during the World War II are presented by the author. The connection between van der Pol equation and radar is given, because it comes out that the solutions of this equation are closely related to the difficulties to obtain good radar information in long distances. The new Chapter 14 is included in this third edition concerning ``Numerical methods for solving differential equations'' and it is written by J. Robertson. It includes Euler's method and its improvement from the errors' point of view. Higher order methods are presented. Numerical solutions of systems of differential equations are considered. Finally, some numerical tables are presented.
