Rolandus Ulixbonensis (Rolando de Lisboa) was known as a physician and astrologer closely related to the University of Paris where he studied and later became a leading person at the faculty of medicine. He was a Portuguese in origin and was the author of the manuscript \textit{Scientia de numero ac virtute numeri} in which he gave an advanced account of main concepts of arithmetic. So he may be treated as the first Portuguese mathematician.
