Let \(\hat L={\mathcal C}[[t]]\frac{d}{dt}\) be the so-called completed Witt Lie algebra. The authors determine the derivation algebra and the automorphism group of \(\hat L\), and prove that this Lie algebra does not contain any nonzero ad-locally finite element. Furthermore, they also present some interesting subalgebras.
