Estimates for mean curvatures of higher order of a compact hypersurface in a complete Riemannian manifold have been obtained by different geometers. In the present paper, the authors generalize such an estimate due to \textit{A. Ranjbar-Motlagh} [Bol. Soc. Bras. Mat., Nova Sér. 32, No. 2, 159--171 (2001; Zbl 1032.53047)] by replacing compactness with much weaker condition of completeness.NEWLINENEWLINEFurther, similar types of results are also obtained for complete space-like hypersurfaces in Lorentzian ambient spaces.NEWLINENEWLINEThe paper is well written.
