Two texture-based filtering techniques are proposed to remove ground echoes in radar images obtained in Setif, Algeria and retain precipitation echoes. Examples show that the methods are simple and effective. In addition, an optimization algorithm using interpolation of neighboring pixels and a regularization function is employed to remove small artificial cells when precipitation echoes overlap the ground echoes.
