The following theorem is proved. Let \(n \geq 3\) be an integer. Let the semidirect product \(G=Sl(\mathbb{R})\times \mathbb{R}^n\) act locally faithfully by isometries on a connected Lorentz manifold \(M\). Then the action of \(G\) on \(M\) is proper.
