The authors extend the notion of multiresolution analysis (MRA) on local fields and present a notion of nonuniform MRA on local field of positive characteristic. They obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of associated wavelets. They also construct a nonuniform MRA on local fields of positive characteristic starting from a low-pass filter satisfying appropriate conditions.
