On a variational analysis of finite deformations of prismatical beams and on the effect of warping stiffness on buckling loads (Q759517)

In this paper the author continues his investigation of lateral buckling of doubly symmetric cantilever beams [see ibid. 34, 642-648 (1983); ibid. 34, 649-667 (1983) and with \textit{J. E. Reissner}, ibid. 34, 450-457 (1983; Zbl 0518.73035)]. From the nonlinear theory developed here, the classical Timoshenko result is a special case. Two specific problems are treated: buckling due to the end moment and axial force and buckling due to a transverse end force.
