On the basis of a three-dimensional strain energy functional a system of one-dimensional differential equations for beam deformations is derived. This nonlinear model of a beam includes the effects of stretching, bending, twisting and warping stiffness. A problem of finite axially uniform stretching and twisting is considered as an application of the general results.
