The paper develops some results for the interpolation with nonpolynomial spline functions. The idea of \textit{H. Mettke, E. Pfeifer} and \textit{E. Neuman} [J. Comput. Appl. Math. 8, 57-62 (1982; Zbl 0554.41017)] happens to be seminal for these results. The author calls these splines as exponentially fitted ones because they belong piecewise to the kernel of some differential operators. The interpolation and spline grids coincide. Some error estimators for the interpolation of a given \(C^ 1\)-function f. The results are of interest in the case of solving stiff differential equations by adapted collocation methods too.
