The author shows that if a set S of operators on a Hilbert space H leave invariant the ranges of the spectral projections associated with a certain sequence of subsets of the spectrum of a normal operator N on H, then S leaves the range of N invariant. This generalizes an earlier result due to \textit{C. Peligrad} [A remark on invariant operator ranges, Integral Equations Oper. Theory 13, 145-147 (1990)].
