For a 1-connected cochain algebra of finite type of a field \(\mathbf k\) of any characteristic, we define a new invariant biMcat and prove that it coincides with the invariant Acat introduced by S. Halperin and J. M. Lemaire; furthermore we show that this invariant satisfies Ganea's conjecture and is invariant under field extension.
