In this little technical tour de force, the author revisits the problem of determining the structure of the automorphism group of a split metacyclic 2-group which was raised by \textit{M. J. Curran} [Arch. Math. 89, No. 1, 10-23 (2007; Zbl 1125.20015)]. The structure theorem is too complicate to be listed here and splits into many cases, but it basically expresses \(\Aut(G)\) as a product of several special subgroups.
