Considering the Cauchy problem for quasilinear wave equations the authors employ Lax's as well as Glimm's method in order to construct approximate solutions of the corresponding perturbed Riemann problem. Global existence is established for the derivatives of the solutions and existence of global Lipschitz continuous solutions can be proven.
