The author gives a cohomological description of the 2-primary part of the tame kernel of a totally real algebraic number field. As an application he obtains a different proof of the reviewer's result [Can. Math. Bull. 32, 248--251 (1989; Zbl 0675.12004)] that the 2-primary part of the Main Conjecture in Iwasawa theory implies the 2-primary part of the Birch-Tate-Conjecture.
