Consider the second order abstract dissipative evolution differential operator \(Du=u''+Lu +(A(t,\,u))'+B(t,\,u)\) in an ordered Banach space \(V\), where \(L\) is linear operator, \(A,B\) are two nonlinear mapping. Under appropriate assumptions the author shows that if a nonnegative abstract function \(u: J\to V\) defined on the interval \(J=[t_0,\,t_0+a]\) satisfies the differential inequality \(Du\leq 0\) and \(u\not\equiv 0\), then the length \(a\) of \(J\) is less than or equal to a defined number. This result is applied to obtain the existence of a uniform oscillatory time for solutions of the equation \(Du=0\).
