The authors propose two kinds of variational sets for multivalued mappings of any order and prove that this approach is advantageous for establishing optimality conditions. The application of these sets permits to get in a unified way necessary and sufficient optimality conditions both for efficiency and weak efficiency. The results include some recent ones and some applications and examples are also considered. Moreover it is interesting to observe that the imposed assumptions are relaxed and the proof simplified.
