Necessary and sufficient conditions for the mean convergence of Hermite interpolation of second order were recently obtained by \textit{P. Nevai} and \textit{Y. Xu} [J. Approximation Theory 77, No. 3, 282-304 (1994; Zbl 0806.41004)]. In the present paper the authors examine the mean convergence of Hermite interpolation of higher order with extended nodes.
