This manuscript considers the new notion of contra-\((\mu,\lambda)\)-continuous functions which are defined on generalized topological spaces (in the sense of \textit{Á. Császár} [Acta Math. Hung. 96, No. 4, 351--357 (2002; Zbl 1006.54003)]). Characterizations and several properties of such functions are obtained. This investigation leads to a unification of several modifications of contra-continuity due to \textit{J. Dontchev} [Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 19, No. 2, 303--310 (1996; Zbl 0840.54015)]. (The classical definition of contra-continuity is that the inverse image of each open set is closed.)
