The authors discuss a class of spatial parallel manipulators which belongs to the wider type of 6-SPS manipulators often referred to as Stewart-Gough manipulators. The class is characterized by the fact that the manipulator contains a sub-assembly which can be reduced to a special type of parallel 3RR chains. With help of this chain it is shown that the class has a closed-form forward solution. The reader is warned that within the paper the terms analytic and imaginary are not used in the standard mathematical sense.
