Exploiting the existence of infinitely many solutions to certain partial differential equations (PDEs) (providing the linearizing output, the pair of linearizing feedbacks and coordinate transformations) the authors derive a global version of a result on the parametrization of all solutions to the above PDEs. This extra freedom in exact linearization is used in order to shape the transient behaviour in the presence of impulsive disturbances. Finally, numerical and experimental examples in the case of a magnetic levitation system illustrate the effectiveness of the procedure.
